Robinson's vacation in Croatia on the islands of Drvenik Veli and Drvenik Mali
17.06.2018.
The number of guests on the Adriatic coast has been constantly growing in last period. Finding an available place on one of the popular beaches during the season, for sure, is not easy task any more . If I to that task add an additional criterion, that it is about quiet and hidden corner on the beach, very often it becomes mission impossible.
I would dare to say that there are more and more us to whom clear sea only is not enough for vacation. Tired of the bustling pace and stressful everyday life, we crave for a vacation spent in peaceful natural oasis. There are plenty of such places in Croatia! Fortunately, not many people are aware of them ...
Opposite Trogir are the islands Drvenik Mali and Drvenik Veli. As soon as you approach the island of Drvenik Veli, i.e.Drvenik Veliki, village on the same island, which is the final destination of the Jadrolinija ferry (the starting point is Seget Donji or Trogir), you are starting to feel the charm of island life. A short noise caused by the arrival of the ferry will be silenced with its departure. Shop, couple of taverns and a church makes the center of the island. Moving a bit above of a few houses in the village, you are realizing that you are surrounded by greenery and the sea only what will make you feel like you are the only one in the world.
The island itself hides a few remote bays, Grabula Bay (west of the village of Drvenik Veli), Mala Luka (west of the island), Pernatica (south), Solinska (south) and Krknjaši (east of the island). East of the island, village Krknjaši was our goal. We decided to walk these 4km from one to the other part of the island. The bike would be also a good solution (but only for those who are ready to ride uphill on a macadam). Descending towards the eastern side of the island, the crystal blue seaside bay surrounded by two islets, the Krknjaši bay known as the Blue Lagoon, will attract your attention. The sea is here so crystal-clear that you will surely see every sea urchins that are also attracted by sea clearity. The bay is ideal for sailors who are the most common guests of this bay. It is surrounded by two islets, Krknjaš Veli and Krknjaš Mali, which are because of their pine forest an ideal place for wild camping.
Nearby to island of Drvenik Veli is situated another populated island, Drvenik Mali. Its Borak harbor is one of the stop of the same Jadrolinija ferry which heads to Drvenik Veli. Borak is the main island port and the center of all social and economic activities on this island. On the island there is also a road in length of a few hundred meters towards the south of the island, i.e. towards the bay of Vela Rina. There is beautiful sandy beach and only one restaurant.
As the island of Drvenik Veli, Drvenik Mali will also enchant you with its untouched nature. The island abounds in olive groves and top quality carobs.
Both islands, Drvenik Veli and Drvenik Mali will enable you a Robinson's vacation as well as an escape from overcrowded noisy beaches. In case you are not for Robinson's vacation in literal sense of words, meaning that you want to enjoy in peace, nature and sea, but also have an accommodation in comfortable apartment, room or holiday home, contact directly owners of private accommodation. Private accommodation in Drvenik Veli and Drvenik Mali is the only option if you want to spend an unforgettable vacation on these somewhat forgotten but authentic and beautiful islands.
