National park Plitvice lakes
Plitvice lakes is the oldest and most famous national park in Croatia, consisting of 16 connected lakes that cascade down the cliffs and hills towards the spectacular waterfall Sastavci. The impressive waterfall Sastavci is almost 70 meters high and Korana river starts flowing from it. National park Plitvice lakes is located in Lika, near Korenica, and covers the area of approximately 300 m2. Plitvice lakes became a national park in 1949. Rastoke
Rastoke is a small charming village located on Slunjčica river, close to Plitvice lakes. Rastoke is especially impressive in the spring when the village is colored by water, waterfalls, and greenery that provide an indescribable experience. Over travertine rocks, lakes and waterfalls, Slunjčica river flows into Korana river. Although most of the buildings in Rastoke were built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the first mill was built in the 17th century. In Rastoke there are many options for activities, from sightseeing of mills, art to local restaurants offering indigenous trout.
